“WEFE Trial in Motion” a Collaboration between MADKOUR Group and UNESCO

Following the powerful momentum built during Cairo Water Week 2024, where we first introduced the vision of a youth-led challenge in the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) nexus, we are thrilled to announce the official launch of the WEFE Trail in Motion initiative!

Organized by the UNESCO Regional Office in Cairo in collaboration with MADKOUR Group, this unique regional competition calls on young innovators from across the Arab region to submit bold, interdisciplinary, and tech-driven solutions tackling the interconnected challenges of:

- Water security
- Renewable energy
- Food systems resilience
- Environmental sustainability
- Cultural heritage protection

This is more than a competition—it’s a platform for transformation.
Participants will receive world-class mentorship, engage with sector leaders, and compete for three seed funding awards from a total prize pool of USD 20,000 to bring their ideas to life!

Who can apply!
Are you between 18 and 30 and ready to shape a sustainable future? Whether you're a student, young professional, or early-career researcher from fields related to water, energy, food, environment, or heritage, you can join WEFE Trail in Motion individually or form a team of 2 to 5 members to bring your bold ideas to life!
